While you may have had an extra day to prepare your taxes with it being a leap year, you will not have extra hours to mail your taxes.

Post offices around the Heartland will not be open extended hours on the April 17 tax deadline.

The United States Postal Service reminds those mailing their taxes that after the first ounce of mail, you must add an additional twenty cents for every additional ounce. Other common mistakes made when mailing taxes is having the wrong IRS mailing address.

The Postal Service reminds you to double check your addresses and mail as early as possible to avoid possible long lines come tax day.
