KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A local economic development group is making a brand-new start with a brand-new director of job creation.
Carolyn Chrisman took over that K-REDI job at the beginning of the year.
The board announced at its monthly meeting Tuesday that Chrisman will be subject to an employee performance evaluation.
That is something that previous, longtime Director of Job Creation Phil Tate did not have to face.
K-REDI Board Chairman Ron Winkler told KTVO the evaluation is not only to help the board but also to help Chrisman.
"We've had Phil Tate for awhile, and now we (have) a brand-new director, and we want to make sure that she understands what we expect of her, and it needs to be fair so she knows what she's supposed to do,” said Winkler. “At the end of the year, we want to make sure that we've got our money's worth.”
The K-REDI board looked over the employee performance evaluation form during its meeting Tuesday.
Winkler said it's still a work in progress, and any input from board members is welcomed.
He said he is hoping the future holds some exciting things for Kirksville.
“We’re really excited about K-REDI… It’s a brand-new situation, and… we’re going to do a membership drive, and I think (in) the coming year we’re going to see a lot of changes made and hopefully a lot of success,” said Winkler.
Each week, Chrisman will now be spending half a day trying to recruit new members to the K-REDI board.
Volunteers will also be assisting her in with that task.
