OTTUMWA, IOWA -- For Tuesday's Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know more about the best workout programs to get yourself in shape for the summer, and to stay active during the summer.
Roxanne Cagwin, trainer at Shape Up Ottumwa, said that the best program is actually no program at all.
"Getting healthy and exercising is so much easier than people think," Cagwin said. "You don't have to have a special program, you don't have to have ... it's just really not that hard. Our bodies are made to move."
The best tool is the resources available outdoors. If you keep active and take advantage of the warm weather, pools, walking trails and parks, exercise will be more enjoyable and less like a chore.
"My advice to people is just to do something. I do teach yoga outside, I teach Pilates outside, I teach an outdoor boot camp," Cagwin said. "There's swimming, there's biking, the possibilities are endless and what's even better is -- it's free."
Even busy moms and dads can work exercise into their schedules. Something as simple as parking further away at the grocery store can go a long way towards being healthy.
Cagwin also said that food is a huge part of any health effort. Eating and being as natural as possible will supplement activity and exercise for an all around healthier lifestyle.
