KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Hundreds of children got to take home some tasty treats Saturday morning as they participated in Hamilton Street Baptist Church's 4th Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The hunt was held at PC Mills Park. About 150 children registered for the event ranging from ages two to 10. There were more than 3,000 eggs up for grabs.

But the Easter egg hunt was not all fun and games. Before the hunt started, the children had to listen attentively to a skit to learn more about why Easter is celebrated.

"We want to make sure that as a church that we are not just having a lot of fun but that we're also sharing what Easter is really about with the children," said Cheryl Flaim, the church's Youth and Family Minister.  "So we had a special skit to teach the kids about what Easter is really about. We used plastic eggs that were covered with mud to show what Jesus did on the cross where he washed us clean by dying for our sins."

Hamilton Street Baptist Church will have a free breakfast and three Easter services on April 8. The sunrise service starts at 7 a.m. followed by a traditional service at 8:30 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m.
