CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — A judge has ordered a mental competency exam for a teenager accused of killing three students in an Ohio high school shooting last month.

Local media outlets report the Geauga County Juvenile Court in northeast Ohio ordered the evaluation of 17-year-old T.J. Lane on Tuesday. The ruling postpones next week's hearing that was set to determine if the case should move to adult court.

Authorities say Lane entered the cafeteria at Chardon High School on Feb. 27 and opened fire, killing three students and seriously wounding two others.

He is charged with three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault.
