Kirksville man arrested, allegedly threatened roommate

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville man was arrested on his birthday after allegedly threatening to slit his rommate's throat.

According to the Adair County Sherriff's Office, Jonathan Omvig, 24, remains in the Adair County Jail charged with domestic assault in the second degree and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to court documents, Omvig and his rommates have had an ongoing arguments about respecting each other's property.

The documents state that on Saturday, Omvig and one of his rommates got in an argument over property in a kitchen drawer when the victima lleged that Omvig repeatedly threw her on the floor, and then went for a large eight to ten inch kitchen knife.

The victim says Omvig displayed the knife to her and said, "If you don't move, I will slit your throat, stab you, and watch you bleed to death on the kitchen floor."

Court records state that when police spoke to Omvig, he admitted to throwing the victim on the floor and displaying the knife to her but he denied the threatening statement.

Omvig remains in the Adair County jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
