CENTERVILLE, IOWA -- Ben Dawson will have to wait a little while longer for his day in court.
Dawson was scheduled to stand trial Friday morning in Appanoose County on misdemeanor charges of Prostitution and Assualt with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse.
However, Dawson's defense asked for a continuance on Thursday, and a judge granted the request on Friday.
A new date for the trial has not been set.
Dawson, who is 83 years old, made national headlines last fall when he was arrested and charged with prositituion.
In an interview Dawson granted KTVO at the time, he maintained his innocence, claiming the charges were the result of a financial dispute with one of his tenants.
