Knox County man jailed for domestic assault

EDINA, MO -- A Northeast Missouri man is in jail for a vicious assault that happened late Sunday night.

Lester Norton, 45, of Edina is charged with first-degree domestic assault in the incident, which resulted in serious injuries to the victim.

According to court papers, Knox County Sheriff's deputies were called to the emergency room at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville regarding a victim who had been beaten.

The victim suffered a broken nose, a right eye swollen shut, broken eye socket, bleeding on the brain and other injuries. 

The emergency room doctor told the deputy the victim would be transferred to Columbia for further treatment. 

According to the court papers, Norton admitted to the deputy he had hit, choked and pushed the victim.

Norton is being held in the Lewis County jail on $50,000.00 cash only bond.
