KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- It's an educational week for Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer as he travels his district learning about issues affecting those he represents.
On Monday, he was at the Gutensohn Clinic in Kirksville where he got a quick tour from Robert Schneider, D.O., the director of Kirksville Family Medicine Resident Clinic, before sitting down for a discussion with a group of doctors, future doctors and other medical professionals.
Among other topics, Luetkemeyer talked about Obamacare with the group and how it's going to affect them, what he can do to minimize its impact and what the good parts and bad parts are.
"Most of the time we're working on issues that are impactful to everybody, and so taking from the meetings (Monday) are things we can use to help us understand issues throughout not only the district, but the rest of Missouri and the rest of the nation," said Luetkemeyer.
Luetkemeyer says meeting face-to-face like the one Monday with medical professionals is one of the best ways for him to learn what their concerns are.
Before his visit to the Gutensohn Clinic, the congressmen met with county commissioners in Adair and Macon counties.
Afterwards, he wrapped up his day by attending the annual Shelby County Farm Bureau dinner in Shelbyville Monday evening.
