KIRKSVILLE, MO -- An entire month is dedicated to a service organization.

Kirksville Mayor Richard Detweiler signed a proclamation Tuesday designating March as Quota Cares Month.

"Each year Quota International asked all the clubs to do a special project in the month of March. This year we have chosen to do a project with the Communications Disorders group at Truman State University," said Mary Jane Kiefer, Quota Cares Month Chair.

Kiefer says they want to raise funds for the university's speech and hearing departments.

"The two main focuses our Quota group has is speech and hearing individuals and disadvantage women and children. We've been doing a lot with the speech and hearing clinic at Truman. This year is their 50th anniversary. It was a great opportunity to celebrate this plus raise some funds for them for our Quota Cares Month," Kiefer said.

Quota will have a Quarters for Quota event Thursday March 22nd at 6 p.m. at Jackson Stables outside Kirksville.

Quota is an all women organization focused on community service and helping out their community.
