Teen loses more than just cell phone

KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Losing his cell phone leads to a local teen losing his freedom.

Jacob Brandenberger, 18, of Kirksville is being held on a felony charge of distribution of the controlled substance, marijuana, and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and minor in possession of liquor. 

Brandenberger is in the Adair County jail on $25, 000.00 cash only bond.

According to court papers, Kirksville Police recovered a cell phone that was found in the 100 block of East Laharpe. 

While looking through the phone to identify the owner, the officer discovered marijuana photos on the phone. After getting a search warrant, a search of the phone discovered numerous incriminating photos, along with text messages discussing the sale of marijuana. 

A search of Brandenberger's apartment turned up marijuana, digital scales, marijuana pipes and bongs. 

Officers also found alcohol in the apartment.

Charges are pending against three other teens, which were in the apartment, two of whom lived there.
