KIRKSVILLE, MO -- It's a big week for the Kirksville High School FFA chapter.

Starting today, students are hosting their annual FFA Week.

It's a week filled with fun and community activities such as a blood drive, pancake breakfast, and Barnyard Days on Wednesday-Thrursday from 9am-2pm in which younger kids get to come to the school and learn about agriculture and different types of animals.

The group says this week helps promote the importance of agriculture to the community.

"It's a time honored tradition, we are always about giving back to the community. It's a week to highlight the things that we do," said Kirksville FFA President Jayde Schilling.

Schilling also says this week helps show their appreciation to the community.

"We have so much community support. This is just a way to step up and give back," Schilling said.

The group kicked off FFA Week with the first ever chili cook-off. KTVO's Vanessa Alonso was one of the judges who sampled and tasted the unique varieties of chili.

FFA Week wraps up on Friday with a FFA dance.
