UNIONVILLE, MO. -- Rumors continue to swirl around Unionville concerning the local hospital.

Putnam County Memorial Hospital officials released a statement to KTVO late Friday afternoon concerning the current status of the facility.

In the statement, hospital officials say they have been in discussions with Community Health Systems Professional Services Corporation, an entity affiliated with Community Health Systems in Nashville, Tenn., in an effort to create a relationship in the ongoing operations of the Unionville hospital. Community Health Systems operates Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

CHSPSC has told Putnam County Memorial Hospital it is withdrawing any interest in leasing and assuming operations of the hospital.

The statement goes on to say the hospital board is reviewing its options.
