NEWARK, MO. -- A Knox County man is accused of making meth in his room at the Heartland Recovery Center outside Newark, Missouri.

John Williams, 42, of Newark is now facing felony charges of manufacturing a controlled substance near a school, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He’s being held for Knox County, in the Lewis County Jail on $25,000 cash only bond.

According to court papers, a staff member at the recovery center found methamphetamine in Williams' room. On top of that, when a Knox County deputy arrived at the scene, he discovered a working meth lab in the suspect's room at the facility.

Also found were syringes and foil that tested positive for meth as well as other materials used to manufacture the illegal drug.

Williams is scheduled for arraignment on February 14 in a Knox County courtroom.
