LA PLATA, MO. -- A murder suspect from Louisiana was apprehended Thursday in northeast Missouri.

The La Plata Police Department said it was contacted earlier in the day by the Washington Parrish Sheriff's Office in the state of Louisiana regarding a murder suspect that might be hiding out in La Plata.

Police ended up arresting Jerry Ronald Graves, 35, who's wanted for 1st-degree murder in Louisiana.

La Plata Police Officer Maurice Crowe told KTVO they had gone to a home where Graves was believed to be staying.

After not finding him there, they located Graves riding in a vehicle in La Plata, authorities stopped the vehicle and took Graves into custody. No other details about the murder in Louisiana were available Thursday night.

Graves is being held in the Macon County Jail.

The Macon County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest.
