KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Lutheran Student Fellowship at Truman State University is preparing for their annual spring break service trip to the capital of the modern day Cherokee Nation.

On Sunday, they held an all-you-can-eat pancake dinner to raise money to pay for the transportation costs that they'll incur as they travel from northeast Missouri to Oklahoma.

"At the service trip, we're going to be working at the camp, helping them make a Frisbee golf course for the kids that come there," said Rachel Scott.   "It's a Lutheran camp in Tahlequah, OK. We'll also be doing service in the town of  Tahlequah, at a children's home, a nursing home, the fire station, and various places. "

The fundraiser was a bargain for students who attended. For $3, they were able to eat blueberry, chocolate chip, banana, and apple sauce pancakes, along with sausages and brownies. The group hopes to make $100, as the funds will also be used to pay for food and housing expenses.

The Lutheran Student Fellowship is affiliated with the Faith Lutheran Church on South Baltimore in Kirksville.
