NEMO man killed, others injured in four-vehicle crash

KNOX COUNTY, MO. -- UPDATED FRIDAY 1/20/12- The funeral for a northeast Missouri man killed in a car wreck this week is set for Friday.

Services for Troy Lawrence, 37, of Kirksville was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Lawrence was killed in a car crash Tuesday evening in Knox County.

We have a clarification about exactly how that crash happened.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Lawrence was westbound on Highway 11, when an oncoming minivan driven by Ira Hoover, 40, of Hurdland, Mo. made a left turn across Lawrence's lane of traffic.

Lawrence's car struck the rear tail-light section of the van and then traveled across the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.

Lawrence's vehicle was then struck in the side by a car that had been following him.

Troy Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County coroner.

We now know the names of the people hurt in a deadly four-vehicle crash in Knox County and details about how it happened.

The collision happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 11 three-and-a-half miles west of Baring.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that Troy Lawrence, 37, of Kirksville was killed in the collision.

Investigators said a vehicle driven by Ira Hoover, 40, of Hurdland was attempting to make a left hand turn into a driveway when Lawrence slammed his car into the back end of Hoover's vehicle.

Lawrence's car continued to travel across the roadway and was then hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle driven by Joseph Fulk, 54, of Memphis.

Then a fourth vehicle driven by Joseph Shaver, 26, of Brashear ended up hitting Lawrence's vehicle in the side.

Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene..

Joseph Fulk was taken from the scene to Columbia hospital by an Air Evac helicopter for treatment of moderate injuries.

Joseph Shaver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Ira Hoover was not hurt.
