BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- The Bloomfield man charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse will stand trial next month.
James Christopher Kozak was arrested last May as a result of a domestic violence complaint. He is charged with two felony counts of kidnapping and sexual abuse. His trial will begin February 7 at the Davis County Courthouse.
According to police, Kozak used a shotgun to keep the female victim from leaving his house. At some point, the shotgun went off, though Bloomfield police said at the time they did not believe the shot was fired with intent .
Kozak's trial was originally schedule for last October.
