LEMONS, MO. -- A Putnam County family escaped injury Thursday morning after a flue fire forced their home to go up in flames.

Lemons Fire Chief Steve Parsons told KTVO, that the fire broke out at a residence on Route HH, about three miles away from Highway 5 near Lemons. Nearly 20 firemen from the Lemons, Unionville and Milan Rural Fire Departments fought the blaze in cold and windy weather, finally clearing the scene more than three hours later.

The residents who were at home when the fire broke out, managed to escape. The home is a total loss.
