KIRKSVILLE, MO -- Another candidate has signed up to run for the Kirksville City Council.
Daniel Branstetter has entered the race, making that two people competing for one open seat. Those two people are Branstetter along with Betty McLane-Iles.
On Tuesday, Anthony Platte withdrew from the race, citing "unforeseeable circumstances."
Former council member Carolyn Chrisman resigned from her position after accepting the position as Director of Job Creation at K-REDI.
Filing continues until Tuesday, January 17. Here are the requirements we received from the city to be eligible. The candidate must be 21 years of age, a resident of the City for one year preceding the election, a U. S. Citizen, a registered voter of the city, and all taxes and utility fees must be paid.
