Ottumwa man faces drug charges

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- An Ottumwa man heads to court after being arrested for drug charges.

According to the Wapello County Sheriff's Office, Andrew Leaf, 32, of Ottumwa, was arrested Wednesday morning. He has been charged with seven offenses, including Prohibited acts, (Possession of a Schedule IV),  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, OWI-Second Offense, Driving while Barred, Operation without Registration, Driving under Suspension, and Driving without valid proof of insurance.

Law enforcement officials said Leaf was involved in an accident on Dec. 23, and  was hospitalized. Once he was released from the hospital, officials said he was arrested.  They said he stayed in jail for two hours on Wednesday morning and then posted bond.

Leaf is scheduled to appear in the Wapello County Courthouse Thursday at 8:30 a.m. for a preliminary hearing.
