FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- A local grocery store in Fairfield has brought a whole new meaning to the phrase 'deck the halls'.
Come holiday season, Everybody's Whole Foods has a ten-year tradition that they continued honoring this year. The store is decked out in Christmas and holiday decorations, the main attraction of which is an elaborate train display.
The trains and other pieces belong to store co-owner Paul Praither. Store employees worked for three weeks to set up the display, which will be up until after New Year's.
"There's a man named Jim Cassidy who helps put it together, along with a few of the employees in the store," employee Eric Hannes said.
Hannes is also one of the employees responsible for maintaining the display, which means he takes about thirty minutes each morning to put rubbing alcohol on the tracks and oil the trains to make sure they run smoothly.
The display is different each year, and Hannes said people of all ages will come to watch the trains run.
"There's been a great response, both from the older people and the younger people," he said. "So everyone really loves it."
