OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A crash that took place on Ottumwa's east side late Tuesday afternoon tied up traffic coming into Ottumwa.

It happened at the intersection of U.S. 34/63 and Roemer Avenue.

Ottumwa firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free one of the victims from the pickup truck involved in the crash.

Police told KTVO the driver of the semi did not stop for a traffic light and broadsided the pickup.

The five people in the pickup, the Babcock family of Ottumwa, were taken to Ottumwa Regional Health Center for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

They are Richard Babcock, 50, his wife, Sherry, 47, and the couple's children, Montana, Shania and Clorenda Babcock.

Authorities said the semi was driven by Sefik Huseinovic, 52, from Syracuse, New York.

He was not hurt.
