KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A pair of Heartland twins are in the Adair Co. Jail, after being accused of manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Kevin Van Dusen, 39, of Kirksville, and Kirk Van Dusen, 39, of Kirksville, have both been charged with possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor, and attempt to manufacture/produce a controlled substance, a class B felony.

Court documents indicate that on Friday, Dec. 16, deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant for another individual at a residence on State Hwy 6 East. Upon arrival, Deputies Ryan Crandall and Mike Smith said they smelled an odor of ether emanating near the back of the home. They said they looked through a window and saw the Van Dusen duo inside the home, near several items used to make meth such as: 2 HCL generators, pseudoephedrine pills, lithium batteries, and lighter fluid.  According to the documents, this evidence led the deputies to believe the twins were attempting to manufacture meth. The deputies also found a scale and a plastic baggie that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Kevin and Kirk Van Dusen remain in the Adair County Jails on $75,000 cash-only bonds.
