OTTUMWA, IOWA -- For KTVO's Facebook story of the day for Thursday; our Facebook fans wanted to know more about some tips when it comes to shopping online this holiday season.
Thursday afternoon, KTVO spoke with the Iowa Attorney General's Office. According to their spokesperson, Geoff Greenwood, the office encourages shoppers to use credit cards when shopping online. When shoppers do this, they can dispute charges unlike when using a debit card.
Greenwood also told KTVO that the attorney general encourages shoppers to only use sites that are encrypted. Those sites will contain the letter "s" after the "http" in the search bar.
Also, shoppers need to be aware of who they are conducting business with.
"Be very careful of who you are doing business with. It's better to know who you are doing business with and go to their site; as opposed to responding to an e-mail that you got in your inbox. So do business with somebody you are familiar with."
