OTTUMWA, IOWA -- There are many charity events and donation drives this time of year, but perhaps none as hilarious as the one going on Thursday and Friday at Ottuwma High.
For two dollars, students can take a cream pie, and throw it in the face of the teacher or staff member of their choice. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Salvation Army to purchase toys for kids in need this holiday season.
It's the first time the school has held an event like this, and it is hosted by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
So why did they decide to do pies? Because it's fun.
"I figure it's every kid's dream, when they have that tough homework assignment due, to throw a cream pie at their teacher's face," Andy Swedenhjelm, organizer of the event, said. "They can come up here, throw as many pies as they want, as long as they pay $2 each, get a little payback here on a teacher."
For their part, the teachers lined up dutifully, donned in plastic bags, and took pie after pie in the face, all for a good cause.
Now that's what you call getting creamed.
