KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- Update:

Tyler Treece made his first court appearance on Monday. He was arraigned in Adair County Associate Circuit Court. His next court appearance is set for Wednesday, when he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing. He remains jailed under $250,000 cash only bond.

Update: Saturday, Nov. 26, 11:35 p.m.

The victim is listed in good condition at University Hospital in Columbia.

Treece is still being held at the Adair County Jail in connection with the incident. According to court documents, witnesses said the 14-year-old victim was in a car with another person and a 5-month old baby. That's when they said Treece approached the vehicle, pulled a gun from his pants, and pointed it at the victim. Treece allegedly told the victim the gun was "unloaded" and then witnesses said Treece pulled the trigger. Police said Treece later admitted that he did shoot the victim, but said he didn't think the gun was loaded.

The Kirksville Police Department has one suspect in custody in relation to Friday night's shooting on Roselene Drive. Tyler Treece, 18, of Edina, has been accused of shooting the 14 year old victim in the chest.

According to court papers, Treece has been charged with 5 counts, including assault in the first degree, a class A felony, unlawful use of a weapon, a class A felony, armed criminal action, assault in the second degree, a class C felony, and endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree, a class C felony.

He is being held in the Adair County Jail on a $250,000 cash only bond.

The Kirksville Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened at a residence on Roselene drive.

Around 5:30 p.m., calls for help came across the scanner, stating that a 14-year-old girl was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

When KTVO cameras arrived at the scene, the victim was conscious and talking as she was being put into the ambulance. Then, she was taken away by Air Evac.

At the same time, police were detaining four young men for questioning. According to the Adair County Sheriff's Office, one of them, an eighteen year old, is being held in the Adair County Jail on a 24-hour-hold.  He has not been charged at this time.

Neighbors said they heard a lot of cussing and then a gunshot.

The condition and identity of the victim is unknown at this time.

Kirksville Police said the shooting is still under investigation and declined to comment.
