FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- Teachers across America will be recognized during the 90th anniversary of the National Education Association’s Education Week that begins this Monday.
November 14th will mark the beginning of celebrations that honor educators. The Fairfield community school district has events planned the entire week that show teacher and student appreciation.
Superintendent Art Sathoff tells us that people who choose the field of education want to give back to the community.
"There's no particular profession, I don't think, that is any more noble-service oriented,” Sathoff said. “They give tremendously. These are a great people that give themselves and students really become their lives and to say thank you in the small ways we do is not a very big price to pay for that."
Students will also be writing letters to their teachers saying how much they appreciate them.
“It’s an opportunity for the students to give back in a way that costs them very little but means a lot to the teachers.”
