KIRKSVILLE,MO -- The 13 day headache is finally over.

North Baltimore Street and the North Interchange in Kirksville, otherwise known as Business 63 is now open to traffic.

The newly constructed roadway opened Wednesday around 11:30 a.m.

The mix of rain and snow delayed the opening of the road by a few hours.

The markings were placed on the pavement once the sun peaked out from the clouds late Wednesday morning.

North Baltimore closed to traffic on October 26 and the new Alternate Route 63 opened.

MoDOT Senior Construction Inspector Shane Viers discusses what lies ahead in the coming days for crews.

"The next step is now hopefully by Friday we will get the north connection with the 63 open and then following that we will pave and make the connection with the west outer road ," Viers said.

MoDOT traffic engineers will continue monitoring all traffic patterns along Baltimore Street and adjust the signal timing as needed to improve traffic flow in the area.

Drivers are asked to pay attention to the signs and be aware of new changes.
