KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Kirksville Salvation Army is a step closer to being prepared for the holiday season after receiving a generous gift Sunday.
The Local 19 Freedom of Road Riders held their 25th Annual Toy Run where about 75 riders from as far as Trenton and Unionville took a cruise down Business 63 and headed through the square and then to the Salvation Army to drop off unwrapped toys and cans of nonperishable food.
The's organization's president said it just feels good to give back and that's why they do it every year.
"Probably the most important things is the community needs it. And in a selfish way, it's a great way to start the season for ourselves," said Steve King.
"We're doing something good for the community. It makes us feel good, kind of a warm fuzzy feeling and it gets us in the holiday spirit for the holidays that are coming up.
Along with the dozens of toys and food items, the political organization also wrote a check for $645 and gave it to the Salvation Army as well.
Local 19 Freedom of Road Riders is a political organization that focuses on lobbying for or against motorcycle legislation. They also host motorcycle safety events.
