KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- The NEMO Fairgrounds were busy Sunday afternoon as the community came out to support and raise money for Mary Immaculate School in Kirksville.

The school's students, along with parents, parishioners of the church and community members gathered in the multipurpose building at the fairgrounds for the Autumn Auction and Soup Lunch.

Sister Ruth Ann, Principal at Mary Immaculate School told KTVO that the fundraiser helps keep the school up-to-date with latest technology.

"The students are very involved in it a long with the home and school, and the main purpose is to raise money so we can keep up with the new curriculum. We do a lot of spending with technology and we try to focus on; what are the needs of the children to give them a better education," said Sister Ruth Ann.

Some of the items being auctioned off were themed baskets, such as movie themes and winter themes; a YMCA membership, lawn mowing services and even a week-long stay at a condo in Florida.

All of the money raised from the event goes directly back to the students and benefits their education.
