MONTROSE, IOWA -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office is reporting that Michael Alexander, 57, of Fort Madison, has died after being struck by a pickup near Montrose.
Alexander was riding his bike when the accident happened. He died in the hospital after being hit Friday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the bike and the pickup, driven by Wayde Youngquist, 58, of Montrose, were both traveling south in the same lane on Highway 61 when the pickup truck rear-ended the bicycle.
The accident is still under investigation.
