MACON, MO. -- A Northeast Missouri Community is offering flu shots in a convenient manner, and at the same time, preparing for the worst.

The Macon County Health Department held its annual "Drive Through Flu Clinic" throughout the day Tuesday.
   
This was also a drill for a bio-terrorism event.  In a worst-case scenario in which an agent such as anthrax could be used, disaster workers would have to get medication out to the public in a short amount of time. 
   
In Tuesday’s drill, from 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon, people just drove up in their cars at the Macon County Fairgrounds to receive their shots.

Those under age 65 got the shot for 20-dollars while those over age 65 received the "high dose" vaccine which the C.D.C. recommends.  The cost of the high dose vaccine is 30-dollars, but the cost is covered by Medicare.
     
If you missed the clinic, The Macon County Health Department will provide shots the next two Thursdays from 8am to 5pm.
