KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- Kirksville residents and Truman students and alumni woke up early Saturday morning to see the Truman State University Homecoming parade.

The grand marshal of the parade was Ray and Judie Klinginsmith. Ray is a retired lawyer who grew up in Unionville and lived in Macon. He was the President of Rotary International in 2010 and 2011. Judie is a retired school teacher.

The parade also featured area marching bands, sororities and fraternities, and many other participants.

Alumni and students lined Franklin street reminiscing the good times.

"I really enjoyed those times, said Terry Brown, a business major in the class of 1982.

"I fell on some hard times and the one year I lost my dad. A lot of alumni, students at the time, were good friends. They helped me through that time. This is home for me. "

"Truman is just kind of a family type of school," said Jessica Barlow, a freshman at Truman.

"There are people everywhere. There's always people with food on campus. Everyone is just really nice."

The theme of the 2011 Homecoming was "Truman goes Hollywood."

After the parade, alumni and students headed to the afternoon football game and evening National Pan-Hellenic Council step show.
