KIRKSVILLE, MO --
The construction of the new alternate route is now causing a temporary lane closure on U.S. 63.
As of nine Thursday morning, the left lane of southbound U.S. 63 near Route 11 in Kirksville has closed.
The closure was necessary to construct the tie-in for the southbound lane of the new Alternate Route 63.
Signs have been placed to warn residents to reduce their speed to 45 mph.
Motorists are urged to use caution and be on the lookout for road workers.
The lane should be reopened again at the end of next week.
