ADAIR COUNTY,MO. -- A Queen City, Missouri teen, missing since August has been found safe and sound in the state of California.

13-year-old Cheryl Mourton approached a San Diego Police office late Tuesday evening near the Mexican border saying that she was a runaway and wanted to turn herself in.

Later last week Mourton's step-father, 38-year-old Kenneth Kramer of Brashear, was arrested by federal agents, in an apartment near Tijuana, Mexico. He had been wanted on Adair County warrants for forgery and domestic assault.

Kramer is being held by San Diego County authorities, awaiting extradition back to Missouri.

"There's some leads we developed between Schuyler County Sheriff Office, our office and the U.S Marshalls office in regards to tracking that situation and it all fell into place. It all went really well," Adair County Sheriff Bob Hardwick said.

Mourton has contacted family members and is awaiting transportation arrangements from California to Missouri.
