Fatal crash in Appanoose County

One Southeast Iowa man is dead after a fatal crash in Centerville Saturday afternoon.

According to The Appanoose County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle occupied by Jade Prokes, 38, of Melrose and Ray Slogan, 31, of Canterville traveling west on Highway J3T when it struck an embankment and vaulter over a fence on 250th Ave.

The vehicle became airborne and traveled several hundred feet before striking an embankment and rolling over.

Prokes was pronounnced dead at the scene.

Sloan was transported to a hospital in Des Moines by air ambulance.

The crash is still under investigation.
