OTTUMWA -- The Ottumwa police department is looking to fill two positions on its squad.

Applicants will have the opportunity to interview Friday at the Wapello County law enforcement center.  Individuals will take part in the Police Officer Selection Test also known as ‘POST’.  It’s not just physical requirements that perspective officers must meet.  They’ll be scored during the interview and on math and grammar exams.

Chad Farrington of the Ottumwa police department says they are looking for outgoing people.

“We’re just looking for outgoing people, individuals that are highly motivated and want a career in law enforcement,” Farrington said.  “Outside of that they’ll receive training at the Iowa law enforcement academy and then we also have what’s a patrol training program here or field training officer program that they’ll be expected to go through and accomplish.”

Farrington expects about 50 people to interview for the two positions.
