KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A Kirksville woman was badly hurt Wednesday in a crash in the parking lot of Kirksville's Walmart Super Center.

Right around 3:30 p.m., police say a pickup truck driven by Cynthia Reed, 46, of Kirksville narrowly missed hitting a Walmart employee before slamming into a dumpster near the Tire and Lube Express.

Officer Nicholas Panos told KTVO investigators suspect a medical condition may have caused the crash.

Panos said there were no skid marks on the parking lot, and Walmart surveillance video shows that the truck did not slow down as it approached the dumpster.

He said he appeared Reed's head had hit the windshield upon impact. Panos said when officers got the to scene, Reed appeared to be concious but unresponsive.

Police said Reed was taken by ambulance straight to the helipad at Air Evac's headquarters at the Adair County Ambulance District and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia.

As of Wednesday night, Reed was listed in critical condition.
