OTTUMWA, IOWA -- For Tuesday's Facebook Story of the Day, our fans wanted to know; what kind of grant money, if any, is available to high school students heading into college?
There are two websites that KTVO found that could be helpful. The first is operated by the federal government and can be found here. The second is operated by an independent organization and can be found here.
As for scholarships, KTVO contacted both the Ottumwa Community School District and Indian Hills Community College.
Indian Hills Community College has a website devoted to the Indian Hills Foundation Scholarships. That information can be found here.
The Ottumwa Community School District has a website that assists students in finding scholarships. The page also has useful information on how to apply for financial aid and other types of assistance. That website can be found here.
Students and parents need to be made aware that it should never cost money to apply for a scholarship or a grant. If an organization is asking you to pay a fee, such as an application fee or processing fee, beware, some of those programs are scams.
