SIGOURNEY, IOWA (AP) -- The trial of Keokuk County Sheriff Jeff Shipley has been delayed.
Shipley was arrested in late July on a drunk driving charge.
His trial was originally set to start in the Keokuk County District Court on October 3rd. The judge in the case granted a continuance, but no new date was set. However, a pre-trial conference has been scheduled for February 15th.
Online court records show Shipley waived his right to a speedy trial on Wednesday. The judge delayed the trial on Thursday.
Shipley pleaded guilty in 2008 to drunken boating. In April, he and two deputies were involved in a deadly shootout with a man at a farmhouse near Sigourney, Iowa. A deputy and the man were killed.
