BLOOMFIELD/DAVIS COUNTY, IOWA -- Music lovers from all across the United States converged on the Davis County Fair Grounds Thursday to set up for the 40th Annual Davis County Country and Old Time Music Festival.
KTVO spoke with Bob Wilson, one of the organizers for the festival. According to Wilson, people from all different walks of life attend the event.
Wilson said, “We have people here from every state in the United States. They are here from Alaska, Wyoming and Montana; everywhere. This is more like a family reunion for us than anything else.”
The music festival has no admission, but donations are accepted. Participants are free to use all the amenities at the fairgrounds including electricity, hot showers, water and flushing toilets.
If the weather turns bad, the event will still go on. According to Wilson, they have the equipment to take care of anyone in need.
“We have all covered show areas so the show goes on rain or shine. We don’t care how tough the weather is. We also have heavy duty tractors with 5th-wheel hitches in the event it does get wet. We can get your unit out of here and we won’t tear anything up,” said Wilson.
Organizers do stress that no drugs or alcohol is allowed at the music festival.
