FAIRFIELD, IOWA -- On Wednesday evening at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, six candidates running for a seat on the Fairfield Community School District School Board participated in a forum hosted by Fairfield Chamber Director Tracy Vance.
The six candidates are:
Douglas Flournoy
Rich Metcalf
Amy Miller
Gail Miller
Jeremy Miller
Jerry Nelson
Prior to the forum, KTVO spoke with Tracy Vance. Vance told KTVO that it’s events like these that help the community decide who they believe should be on the school board.
“We want to inform the public, and I think it’s a good way for the citizens to get a glimpse of what the issues are, what their philosophies are. Also, it gives the candidates the opportunity to communicate with the public,” said Vance.
A good portion of the forum was devoted to infrastructure improvements throughout the district, including whether a new high school should or should not be built. Also discussed was whether all district buildings should have air conditioning and the future of Libertyville Elementary School.
Voters take to the polls September 13th.
