UNIONVILLE, MO. -- Two former Unionville residents receive a special honor.
Putnam County High School held its Hall of Fame Ceremony Friday morning and inducted two members.
The new inductees are Dr. Alan Rockwood who is from the Class of 1965 and Bill Jackson from the Class of 1953.
Both of them told KTVO that they are very surprised and honored by the recognition.
“It is a great honor because I have such strong ties to the community through my family. The Rockwoods have been here and have been involved with education for many years. So it's great to receive this honor,” Rockwood said.
“Well I'm just flabbergasted because I would have never expected this. This is wonderful company. Those who have preceded us have such great credentials. I'm still catching my breath. I'm so humbled and honored,” Jackson said. “I’m delighted to see old friends here again. Coming back to Unionville has been quite a treat for me and my wife.”
After graduating from high school, Rockwood and Jackson went on to be successful in their careers.
Rockwood became a university lecturer and research economist while Jackson had a successful career in children’s TV programs.
Jackson was also the first weatherman at KTVO from 1955 to 1958.
