Car fire leads to felony charges

KIRKSVILLE, MO -- A Kirksville man is charged with two felonies involving a vehicle.

Court papers say Andrew Newkirk, 19, is accused of stealing a vehicle from Wendy's restaurant in Kirksville. After allegedly stealing items from the interior, Newkirk took the vehicle to the Wal-Mart parking lot and set it on fire.

Newkirk is charged with one count of tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree, a Class C Felony.

He's also charged with knowingly burning or exploding, a Class D Felony.
