Police: Man kicked until unconscious, then robbed

OTTUMWA, IOWA -- A southeast Iowa suspect is under arrest and accused of robbing another man.

Police said Nicholas Strunk, 28, of Ottumwa was taken into custody in Eldon, Iowa this past Monday.

Strunk is charged with first-degree robbery.

Investigators say the crime happened at 223 North Marion Street in Ottumwa on July 31.

During the robbery, police said Strunk kicked Sean VanHaaften, 39, until he was unconscious and then stole various items from him.

Strunk is being held in the Wapello County Jail on $25,000 bond.
