JEFFERSON CITY,MO -- State Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, has been honored by the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association (MSA) as the 2011 “Senator of the Year.”
“I am very humbled by this honor that has been awarded me by a great group of folks dedicated to law enforcement in Missouri,” Sen. Munzlinger said. “I want to thank not only everybody in the MSA, but also the folks who work in their training academy, as well. They perform tirelessly, each day, to help keep our state safe.”
The 2011 MSA Annual Training Conference was held in Joplin. During the annual legislative luncheon, MSA honored one Missouri senator and one state representative for their commitment and continued support to law enforcement.
“Senator Munzlinger was named ‘Senator of the Year’ because he is very supportive of law enforcement,” said Michael Covington, Executive Director of MSA. “He carried the conceal carry bill (House Bill 294) to lower the age to 21 and has always been fabulous to work with. Senator Munzlinger understands law enforcement and what they go through, especially in rural areas. He's always been willing to help with training, and he helped with language that would allow sheriffs to expand the use of fees for concealed carry permits.”
