BLOOMFIELD, IOWA -- Davis County residents will get a chance to run and raise money.

The third annual Back to Basics Walk and Run is scheduled for Saturday August 27. Each of the first two runs have been a success. In the first year, the race committee was able to donate $1,200 to the pool for new deck chairs. They second year raised $2,000 for a new little league fence.

Race Director Katie Fetcho said the event is good for a person's health and for the community.

"As we continue, all the money goes back to the city parks and rec to help again people to stay active and create a healthier lifestyle."

Interested participants can still register for the race. Registration will continue on the Bloomfield Square at 7:15 a.m. The youth run will be at 8 a.m. while the 5K run or walk starts at 8 a.m.
