UNIONVILLE, MO. -- The head of a Heartland hospital is stepping down.

KTVO has learned that Putnam County Memorial Hospital CEO Floyd Bounds has resigned.

His administrative assistant, Sue Ann Varner, confirmed the resignation Wednesday night.

She told us that Bounds submitted his resignation to the chairman of the board about a week ago.

The entire hospital board was told about it at Wednesday's meeting.

Varner says Bounds' resignation will be effective November 15.

Bounds has held the position since February 2010.

No decision has been made yet regarding what to do about a replacement.
