Arrest made in Albia stabbing

ALBIA, IOWA -- Albia Police say they have arrested a man in connection with a Monday stabbing in the city.

A man identified only as Pedro Garcia, 39, is currently in custody at Monroe County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Garcia faces a charge of Attempted Murder.

Police believe Garcia stabbed Stephen John Morgenthaler, 31, in the neck at a residence at 17 1/2 North Main in Albia.

There is some good news on Morgenthaler condition. He was originally airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, were he was  listed in critical condition.

Albia Police say that his condition is now listed as stable.
